Laboratory Asset Assessment

One of the key aspects of managing any type of asset is having accurate information on each asset in the asset population. This information will typically include descriptive information on the asset’s function and performance, the asset’s location, current condition and preferably an estimate of its current monetary (as opposed to depreciated book) value.

While the need for such data is often considered standard operating procedure, the practice of acquiring and maintaining an accurate accounting of lab assets has been found to be far from universal. Errors and omissions that are discovered when audits are performed by third parties include missing assets, assets that are not counted or recorded, and inconsistent asset control across multiple sites within the same organization.

Accurate asset data is central to numerous decision processes with financial implications, and forms the foundation for controlling service and support costs.

Our Services
Lab Asset Verification audit services provide company decision makers and stakeholders with a visual and comprehensive information record of all lab assets, allowing decisions regarding project resource allocation, individual and total lab asset current value and future asset requirement deficits to be made with accuracy and confidence.

The Lab Asset Unit Usage Assessment creates a usage histogram for selected instruments and/or lab equipment that provides a key data element for many acquisition, divestiture and service contract decisions.

Similar to the Lab Asset Unit Usage Analysis, a Lab Asset Unit Service History Assessment creates a usage histogram for selected instruments and/or lab equipment that provides a key data element for many acquisition, divestiture and service contract decisions.

The Lab Asset Cost-of-Ownership Analysis determines the estimated total cost associated with selected instruments and/or lab equipment. This information can be a vital  component in future asset acquisition decisions, both in terms of best-fit make/model and financial strategy (buy vs lease) decisions.

Our Lab Asset Management Programs incorporate the data and information from the Lab Asset Verification Audit, as well as other assessment services, into a user-friendly, maintainable and usable software-based lab asset management program. The program, once in place, is designed to serve as an information-driven management decision tool for all future lab asset-related decisions.
